The Career Starters’ initiative was started by young professionals, for young professionals. Whether people are at school, college, University or taking their first steps into aviation, we want to provide the facts as they stand as well as support and guidance for those to whom a career in aviation is the ambition. We want to prove to these individuals that aviation is still an industry of choice, one worth considering in the current climate and one in which you can develop skills which are ideal for a wide range of senior management roles.
Since July, Aviation Action has hosted webinars covering a variety of topics including the state of the industry, during which we analysed the macro-trends that have been seen since COVID in terms of passenger and cargo volumes and the timeline toward recovery including where the industry focus will need to turn whilst doing so; employability and resilience in the context of both how to prepare yourself for an aviation-related position but also the key skills to call out if looking toward another sector and postgraduate opportunities, creating links between lecturers and the student market and highlighting the relevance of postgraduate degrees in the current climate.
Aviation Action has also provided each participant with an industry buddy, relevant to their area of interest or future progression. Through doing this, we hope those who have participated feel they not only have found up to date information and guidance from fellow young professionals, but also enhanced their industry network to help their future progression.
